Medication Management
Medication management is an outpatient form of treatment that begins with a full psychiatric evaluation to determine a provisional diagnosis and treatment plan.
If appropriate, psychotropic medications are prescribed.Referrals to other specialists for underlying medical conditions and/or laboratory studies are ordered if necessary. Patients are seen again usually in the following 2-4 weeks to review for potential side effects and answer any questions or concerns. Ongoing medication monitoring is essential for safe and effect use of the medications and to help you reach your goals with treatment. In some situations, a patient may benefit from specialized genomic testing that can aid the provider in choosing which psychotropic medications will be most effective for you with the least chance of side effects. This type of genetic blood testing is covered by most insurance providers.
